According to Xinhua News Agency, President Donald Trump announced on August 1 (local time) on the social network Truth Social that: "The US is ready for a large-scale campaign against Iran. However, we have just received a request from Iran and other countries in the Middle East requesting a temporary halt to all attacks, as the parties have agreed on the basic terms of an agreement.
President Trump said that the agreed agreement includes the immediate, complete and comprehensive opening of the Strait of Hormuz, while ending the nuclear threat from Iran.
However, the US leader also emphasized that this postponement decision depends on the ability to quickly reach an agreement.
Earlier, US media quoted US officials as revealing that Mr. Trump had ordered the military to prepare to launch a new offensive against Iran, which could begin as early as this weekend and last for several days.
According to Iran's semi-official Mehr news agency, Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi warned the US not to take any reckless actions and emphasized that those responsible will face the consequences.
