On August 31 (local time), speaking to reporters, President Donald Trump described Iran as a "failed nation", and listed a series of issues Tehran is facing.
They have an inflation rate of 350%. They have no currency. They don't pay soldiers," Mr. Trump said.
According to the US President, most Iranian leaders have been killed, while the country's navy and air force suffered serious losses. Iran's surveillance system was also almost completely destroyed.
Mr. Trump said that the above losses show the scale of damage that Iran has suffered in the current conflict. However, he also warned that this situation does not mean that the US will stop military operations against Tehran.
That doesn't mean we won't attack them. We'll see what happens," Trump said.
Mr. Trump's statement was made in the context of escalating tensions between the US and Iran. The possibility of the US resuming attacks could further destabilize the regional situation.
Previously, Mr. Trump had identified the conflict in Iran as a relatively small war for the US. He also said that the US used significantly less weapons in Iran than the number of weapons that the former President Joe Biden's administration had supplied to Ukraine.
According to Mr. Trump, the Biden administration has provided Ukraine with more than $300 billion in weapons and ammunition. Meanwhile, the US is currently supporting Ukraine through financial resources paid by European countries and NATO.
