Mainichi reported that while the inauguration of 46th US President Joe Biden on January 20 attracted attention from all over the world, in the city of Sukagawa in northern Japan, a bus stop is also causing a stir on social media because its name is pronounced almost like the name of new President Joe Biden.
The "Kami-Umeda" bus stop, pronounced tu lech as often ''Jo Baiden' similar to the pronunciation of Joe Biden's name, is a stop on two bus routes operated by Fukushima Transport Company. The station is located in a quiet rural area west of Sukagawa city, Fukushima prefecture.
Since President Jode Biden won the US presidential election in November 2020, this bus station has become a popular topic on social networks. The departments' sales office in Sukagawa City has received a series of requests from people, including those outside Fukushima Prefecture, asking about where the bus station is and how to get there.
The head of the Sukagawa City office said: "I am very grateful that everyone is interested in this bus stop. Because this is usually a quiet place, I hope they will pay attention when taking the bus."
Meanwhile, there is also a bus station of the same name in Ube city, Yamaguchi prefecture, western Japan, and this place seems to be becoming a hot topic.
