North Korea called the MSMT report on its relationship with Russia a political and deviant act, and said that military cooperation with Russia is a legitimate sovereign right.
The North Korean Foreign Ministry affirmed that the MSMT group has no basis to investigate the legitimate activities of sovereign states. The ministry called the report a "political tool for the geopolitical interests of the West" and an act of "hostalgia" as well as "blatant violation of sovereignty" by North Korea.
MSMT's report accuses North Korea of assisting Russia in intensifying missile attacks targeting Ukraine's key civil infrastructure, while supplying Moscow with more than 20,000 containers of ammunition.
In response, the North Korean Foreign Ministry said it was part of bilateral military cooperation implemented under the comprehensive strategic partnership treaty signed by the leaders of the two countries last year.
North Korea stressed that the treaty between the country and Russia clearly stipulates the obligation to provide mutual military assistance in the event of an armed attack on one side. Therefore, the deployment of Russian support soldiers in Ukraine - which was confirmed in April after a long period of silence - is completely legal.
In addition to accusing North Korea of supplying weapons, MSMT's report also said that Russia has helped improve Pyongyang's missile performance by providing technical data.
At the end of the statement, the North Korean Foreign Ministry expressed deep concern about the Wests provocational acts to impose unilateral political and legal standards, warning of serious consequences for what it called reckless actions.
The MSMT group was founded in October last year after the Security Council's sanctions monitoring mechanism was dissolved due to concerns from Russia and China.
