Mr. Truong Hieu Minh (Zhang Xiaoming) - Director of the Hong Kong and Macau Affairs Office (HKMAO) was dismissed from his position, Xinhua quoted the Chinese Ministry of Manpower as saying today (February 13.
The replacement of Mr. Truong Hieu Minh to take on the position of HKMAO director is Mr. Ha Bao Long (Xia Baolong), 67 years old - Vice President of the China People's Political Commercial Conference (CPPCC).
The removal of Mr. Truong Hieu Minh from office comes after Beijing's replacement of the head of the Hong Kong communications office in January this year.
Despite being removed from the position of director, Mr. Truong Hieu Minh will continue to stay at HKMAO to take on the role of deputy director in charge of daily activities, the Ministry of Manpower of China said.
Mr. Ha Bao Long was a deputy head of the Chinese President Xi Jinping when Mr. Xi Jinping was Secretary of the Zhejiang Provincial Party Committee for the period 2003-2007.
On the same day, February 13, Beijing also announced the appointment of new deputy directors of HKMAO, Mr. Lac Hue Ninh (Luo Huining) and Vice President ( Fu Ziying). Mr. Lac Hue Ninh was elected as the new director of the Hong Kong communications office in January, while Mr. Pho Tu Ung was the director of the Macau communications office.
