Two former Chinese Ministers of National Defense Wei Fenghua and Li Chengfu were convicted of corruption, according to Xinhua News Agency on the afternoon of May 7.
A military court sentenced Wei Fenghua to the crime of receiving bribes, while Li Chengfu committed both receiving and giving bribes.
The news report of the Chinese state news agency did not specify the amount of bribes related to the cases.
Both former Chinese Ministers of National Defense were sentenced to death but had their sentences suspended for 2 years, lifetime deprivation of political power and confiscation of all personal assets.
After a 2-year amnesty period, the sentences of the two former Chinese Ministers of National Defense may be reduced to life imprisonment without the possibility of sentence reduction or amnesty, also according to Xinhua News Agency.
