On July 9 (Beijing time), according to Xinhua, the Chinese and Russian navies officially entered the stage of live-fire drills in the sea area near Qingdao city, Shandong province, eastern China.
This is part of the joint naval exercise "Joint Sea - 2026", launched on July 6 with the participation of the navies of the two countries.
According to the plan, the exercise is divided into three phases including: Force gathering, planning at the port and deploying combat operations at sea.
After completing the prepared contents on shore, Chinese and Russian warships simultaneously advanced to the designated area to perform practical training subjects.
During the sea phase, the two sides will conduct many joint exercises such as joint reconnaissance, air defense and missile defense, as well as search and rescue of submarines.

The subjects are built to enhance the combat coordination capabilities between the navies of the two countries in many different situations.
Before entering the sea exercise, officers and sailors from China and Russia participated in a series of exchange activities at the port.
The delegations successively visited each other's warships, learned about equipment, combat capabilities and exchanged experiences in training and ship operation.
In addition to professional activities, soldiers of the two countries also participate in many cultural and sports exchange programs.

A friendly basketball match between Chinese and Russian soldiers was held to enhance understanding and cohesion among the forces participating in the exercise.
In addition, the two sides also attended a thematic workshop on submarine rescue, shared experiences and discussed coordination options in emergency underwater situations.

According to Xinhua, the "Joint Sea - 2026" exercise continues to reflect the increasingly close cooperation between the Chinese and Russian navies in the field of maritime security.
This activity is expected to contribute to improving combat coordination capabilities, response capabilities to situations at sea as well as strengthening professional exchanges between the navies of the two countries.
This is also one of the annual naval exercises maintained by China and Russia for many years.
