The continuous rains in recent days have caused flooding in many areas in central, western and southwestern India, while a red warning of heavy rain was issued in New Delhi.
At least 4 people have died in flood-related incidents in Mumbai, India's financial capital, Xinhua reported. Power supplies were cut off in many areas, and some flights were canceled or diverted from Mumbai airport amid heavy rain.
Areas in Madhya Pradesh state in the central region, especially Bhopal and Ujjain, along with the Rajkot and Junagarh areas of Gujarat state in western India have also experienced heavy rain in recent days, leading to flooding. In Ujjain city in Madhya Pradesh state, cars and other vehicles were seen being swept away by floodwaters.
Meanwhile, heavy rain disrupted daily life in the capital, when 15 flights were diverted from Delhi airport amidst bad weather. The Indian Meteorological Department issued a red warning about heavy rain in New Delhi on July 7.
