According to RT, Ukraine is considering deploying a new attack strategy against Russian warships in the Asia-Pacific region.
The previous Ukrainian attack, called the " spider web Campaign", used drones carrying explosives that took off from commercial trucks to attack a series of Russian air bases, from Murmansk in the Arctic to Irkutsk in Siberia.
Ukraine has said it has destroyed or damaged dozens of military aircraft, including long-range Tu-95 and Tu-22 attack aircraft capable of carrying nuclear weapons. However, Moscow said most of the UAVs were shot down and none were completely destroyed.
RT reported that Ukrainian intelligence officials have considered a naval version of this surprise tactic, in which surface-to-water UAVs could be disguised as cargo containers to approach and attack Russian warships as well as those of Russian allies in the North Pacific. However, these plans have not been implemented yet.
The Russian Pacific fleet is headquartered in the city of Vladivostok, in the Far East, about 45km from the Chinese border and 134km from North Korea.
In response to attacks targeting Ukrainian strategic forces, President Donald Trump said Russian President Vladimir Putin had called and declared that Moscow would be forced to retaliate against Kiev.
This week, the Russian Defense Ministry announced that it had launched a series of large-scale airstrikes using UAVs and long-range precision weapons against Ukrainian defense industry facilities, including UAV factories, weapons depots, military airports and military positions of Ukrainian soldiers and foreign hired soldiers.
However, Washington believes Moscow has not yet really carried out a comprehensive retaliation and is expected to react strongly in the next few days. A source said Russia is likely to launch a large-scale, multi-dinged attack.
