The prestigious Russian arms manufacturing group Kalashnikov has just handed over to the military an upgraded reconnaissance UAV capable of continuous operation for up to 20 days in the air, deployed in the special military campaign area in Ukraine.
Leonid Rokeakh, Director of Export of UAV and cruise missile sectors of Kalashnikov, said the UAV model Kvazimachta can maintain maximum flight hours.
In reality, it is rare to fly continuously for such a long time. Normally, UAVs operate for 24 hours, then lower them for inspection, replacement of diesel generators or maintenance, said Mr. Rokeakh.
The special feature of Kvazimachta is that it is powered and transmitted data via a cable connected to the ground, allowing the device to always be ready, regardless of battery or limited fuel.

The UAV is assigned to protect perimeter or a fixed area, but can also be used in civilian applications such as monitoring crowded events.
According to the technical description, the Kvazimachta lifting system is designed for long-term operation of electronic devices mounted on a drones piloted by a helicopter. This UAV provides 24/7 video surveillance in both optical and infrared bands, transmitting real-time data to the ground station.
Kvazimachta is also equipped with a safety take-off mechanism in case of loss of power from the ground, ensuring no damage to equipment and operating area.
The expansion of Kalashnikov to the field of reconnaissance UAVs with power supply and cable data transmission technology is considered a strategic step, in order to meet the need for continuous monitoring in high-intensity combat environments, while opening up potential applications for both military and civilian applications.
