The two facilities attacked included a fighter jet factory and an anti-aircraft missile manufacturing facility. The information was released by the Ukrainian armed forces on Telegram, stating that the targeted targets included an airfield in the town of Lukhovitsy, about 135km southeast of Moscow, and a facility under the tool design department in the Tula region.
According to Ukraine, the factory in Lukhovitsy specializes in the production of MiG fighter jets, while the facility in Tula is the place to develop anti-aircraft missile and artillery - missile systems. The attack is believed to have caused large explosions and fires at both sites.
Russia confirmed that a series of drones from Ukraine have attacked the country. The Russian Defense Ministry said it had shot down a total of 155 drones between 11am on the night of July 10 and 7am on July 11. Of these, 11 are believed to be heading for Moscow.
In the Tula region, Dmitry Milyaev, the region's governor, said on Telegram that one person was killed and another was injured in the attack by Ukraine. However, there have been no independent confirmations from other sources about the statements by both sides regarding the extent of damage or the number of casualties.
Drone strikes from both Russia and Ukraine have become popular over the past three and a half years, since Russia launched a military campaign into Ukrainian territory. Both sides are seeking to attack targets deep behind the front line, seeking to disrupt the logistics chain, military infrastructure and industrial centers of the enemy.
