President Zelensky said he had discussed with Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Rustem Umerov on July 21 to prepare for a Prisoner exchange and another meeting with Russia in Turkey.
"Mr. Umerov reported that the meeting was scheduled for July 23. More details will be announced on July 22," Zelensky said.
Umerov, a former defense minister, was appointed to the position of Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council last week. He has also chaired the first two rounds of talks with Russia.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has previously called for increased momentum for negotiations.
Russian news agency TASS quoted a source in Turkey as confirming the talks taking place on July 23. Meanwhile, Russia's RIA news agency quoted a source as saying that the negotiations took place over two days, July 24 and 25.
For its part, the Kremlin is waiting for confirmation of the date of negotiations but noted that the parties are "completely opposite" in their stance on ending the conflict.
Ukraine and Russia held two rounds of talks in Istanbul, on May 16 and June 2. The negotiations involved exchanging thousands of prisoners and the remains of soldiers.
However, the two sides have not made any breakthrough towards a ceasefire or an agreement to end nearly 3 and a half years of conflict.
