Stable enrollment source
Data on the international student recruitment platform ApplyBoard shows that Vietnamese students are increasingly shaping the study abroad trend at 4 main destinations, including: the US, Canada, Australia and the UK. According to The Koala News (Australia), among major markets, Vietnam's stable rise reflects the story of perseverance, family-oriented education and economic aspirations.
According to the report, in 2024 alone, about 40,000 Vietnamese students were granted study abroad visas to the "four great countries", an increase of nearly 20% compared to 2019. Currently, there are more than 150,000 Vietnamese students studying abroad worldwide and this number is expected to increase steadily in the next 5 years.
ApplyBoard believes that this continuous expansion is due to a number of key factors: Strong academic culture in Vietnam, rapid development of the middle class and increasingly many global family and community relationships, supporting international learning.
Vietnam's economic development story is widely known, with stable GDP growth, urbanization and increasing household income. Education is a core pillar of this transformation, in which Vietnamese families often consider studying abroad as an investment for the future of their children and a path towards global citizens.
ApplyBoard's report paints a picture of Vietnam as an increasingly solid student market. The travel of international students is no longer limited to traditional urban centers such as Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi. More and more students from big cities and rural areas of Vietnam are looking for international education opportunities.
This is no longer a privilege of the upper class but has become a part of the educational aspirations of thousands of families across the country. Schools, universities and institutions serving Vietnamese students are increasingly connecting more with students outside large cities, reflecting this change.
A solid cultural and economic foundation ensures stable growth momentum
The ApplyBoard report shows that there are many factors supporting Vietnam's stable development in the international education sector. Vietnamese society values education and families are often willing to invest heavily in finance to ensure that their children have the best learning opportunities, whether domestically or abroad.
The expanding middle class in Vietnam has more income available to invest in studying abroad.
The Vietnamese community in the US, Canada, Australia and the UK has created a strong support network for new students. In many cases, siblings, cousins or friends in the family have paved the way, making the learning process easier for the next generation.
The report by ApplyBoard concludes that Vietnam is well-positioned to become one of the countries contributing significantly to global international education in the coming decade.
While other markets face policy and economic challenges, Vietnam's solid foundation, economic momentum, cultural commitment to education and population growth help maintain student exchange abroad. T
In the context of constantly changing global education, Vietnam's rise can take place silently but stably and in many ways, that helps Vietnam create one of the most reliable growth stories in the coming decade.
