The 4th P4G Summit with the theme "Sustainable green transformation, taking people as the center" took place in Hanoi from April 14 to 17, attracting more than 1,000 delegates from about 40 countries, international organizations and domestic and foreign enterprises. With more than 20 sessions of discussion, green exhibition and business connection, this is the largest multilateral conference on green growth hosted by Vietnam in the 2021-2026 period, demonstrating Vietnam's strong commitment and pioneering role in promoting sustainable development.
At the conference, leaders highly appreciated Vietnam's host role, saying that the theme of the 2025 P4G Summit reflects the general trends and interests of the countries.
UN Deputy Secretary-General Amina Mohammed highlighted the role of global cooperation in the green transformation and sustainable development process; was pleased to share many positive signals about the leadership role of governments, social organizations, and businesses in the green transformation process. Assessing Vietnam as a model of energy transition and investment attraction in the context of a difficult world, the Deputy Secretary General of the United Nations called on countries to improve resource efficiency, promote institutional reform, develop sustainable infrastructure and harmonize regulations on investment and business to promote sustainable development and green growth on a global scale.
Lao Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone highly appreciated the role of P4G cooperation in promoting partnerships on green growth and sustainable development; shared that despite being a country with many difficulties, heavily affected by climate change, no seas and limited access to finance and technology, Laos is strongly committed and has built important mechanisms and frameworks to promote national green growth. The Lao Prime Minister shared an important message, affirming that the international community must truly be a common community, striving to cooperate and support each other to narrow the development gap and together move towards realizing sustainable development goals.
Ethiopia Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali was pleased to share with the conference the positive results in developing green transportation, green production, and green urban areas. The Ethiopia Prime Minister suggested that countries develop a new approach, linking climate action with specific targets, taking into account vulnerable groups, in which international partners need to comply with the commitments, increase investment, provide finance and technology, promote measures on biodiversity conservation and natural conditions of local people in the regions, especially in Africa.
Representing the key partners of P4G, the president of the World Resources Institute (WRI) Ani Dasgupta expressed proud to accompany P4G to witness the positive transition, not only in carbonization of the economy but also for the people, for nature, for the planet. Affirming that there is no common solution for all countries, Wri President calls to promote the potential of the public -private partnership model, linking the private sector with the nation's sustainable development and the energy transformation of the economy, which Vietnam is a successful typical example.
Speeches from leaders affirmed that the 2025 P4G Conference will contribute to creating new motivations for multilateral cooperation in general, as well as cooperation between P4G and partners, between the Northern Hemisphere and the Southern Hemisphere, between the State and private sectors to promote green transformation and sustainable development.
