Vietnam closely coordinates with countries to respond to Nipah virus

Vietnam will closely coordinate to promptly implement appropriate and effective Nipah virus disease prevention and control measures.

Information about the prevention and control of the Nipah virus epidemic in Vietnam and coordination with other countries in this work received the attention of the press at the regular press conference of the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the afternoon of January 29.

Answering questions from the press, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Pham Thu Hang said: "According to information from relevant functional agencies, so far, Vietnam has not recorded any cases of disease caused by the Nipah virus.

Ms. Pham Thu Hang added that to respond to the Nipah virus epidemic, Vietnamese functional agencies are closely coordinating with localities to strengthen surveillance and epidemic prevention right from border gates, medical facilities and communities as well as be ready with epidemic prevention and control measures.

Vietnamese functional agencies will continue to closely monitor the developments of the epidemic, closely coordinate with the World Health Organization and countries around the world to promptly implement appropriate and effective epidemic prevention and control measures" - Ms. Pham Thu Hang emphasized.
