Sharing with VNA, Vietnamese Ambassador to Thailand Pham Viet Hung said: This is the first official visit to Vietnam by a Thai Prime Minister in 11 years since the visit of Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha in 2014, taking place at a time when the two countries are preparing to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations (1976-2026), an important milestone in the history of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
In the context of the enhanced Strategic Partnership between Vietnam and Thailand continuing to develop well, comprehensively and increasingly in-depth in all fields, the visit will be an important opportunity for both sides to continue developing that relationship to new heights, more substantially and effectively.
According to Ambassador Pham Viet Hung, during Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra's visit, the two sides will hold the 4th general cabinet meeting. Under the co-chairmanship and direct direction of the two Prime Ministers, the two sides will review and resolve the issues that are being raised and determine cooperation directions in all fields.
Ambassador Pham Viet Hung emphasized: "This official visit to Vietnam by Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra will mark an important milestone, contributing to bringing the Vietnam - Thailand relationship to a new height, helping to strongly strengthen political trust and mutual understanding between the two countries' senior leaders, an opportunity for the two sides to comprehensively review cooperation areas, remove obstacles, agree on major orientations and specific measures, and create new momentum for bilateral cooperation in the coming time".
The Vietnamese Ambassador to Thailand added: "The cooperation documents expected to be signed by both sides will create a new foundation for cooperation between localities, businesses, and social organizations as well as strengthen connections between the people of the two countries, contributing to firmly consolidating the foundation of friendship and further deepening cooperation in all fields".
Speaking to the Government Electronic Newspaper, Thai Ambassador to Vietnam Urawadee Sriphiromya revealed that during Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra's visit to Vietnam, the two countries hope to upgrade their relationship to Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, demonstrating a strong commitment to strengthen coordination, jointly planning long-term development strategies, for the sustainable prosperity of each country and the happiness of the people of the two countries. This is the most profound and important meaning of this visit.
According to the Ambassador, the contents of the discussion during this visit will be quite comprehensive. Regarding political cooperation, the leaders of the two countries will discuss measures to strengthen coordination to respond to new challenges such as drugs and cybersecurity, especially the prevention, control and handling of cybersecurity threats.
In the economic field, leaders of the two countries will exchange measures to facilitate bilateral trade. The two countries are constantly making efforts to achieve the goal of raising trade turnover to $ 25 billion in the near future. In addition, leaders of the two countries will exchange measures to promote cooperation in the field of logistics and supply chains.
The Thai Ambassador said that with the two countries both focusing on sustainable development policies and environmentally friendly economies, the Prime Ministers of the two countries will also discuss this topic. According to Ms. Urawadee Sriphiromya, cooperation in human resource development for high-tech industries, especially artificial intelligence, semiconductors and robotics, will also be a topic of discussion among the leaders of the two countries at the upcoming meeting.
