A surprise happened in the semi-final match of the 2024 Southeast Asian futsal tournament on the evening of November 8, when Asia's top futsal team, Thailand, was defeated 1-5 by Indonesia.
Despite playing at home, the Thai futsal team was completely outclassed. The Thai futsal team started the game slower and conceded an early goal in the 8th minute when Rio Pangastu from Indonesia quickly stole the ball and passed it to Sumilena who scored from close range to open the scoring.

The second half scenario was beyond the experts' expectations when the host Thailand completely collapsed.
