The Vietnamese fencing team aims to strive for the best results at the 2026 World Championships, which will kick off in Hong Kong (China) from July 22.
This year, the Vietnamese swordplay team only has 3 swordplayers including Nguyen Xuan Loi, Nguyen Phuoc Den (male) and Tran Thi Thuy Trinh (female).
In which, Xuan Loi will compete in the men's individual swordplay event, while Phuoc Den will participate in the men's individual three-sided sword event, Thuy Trinh will compete in the women's three-sided sword event.
The world championship is always a place that attracts top world fencers to participate.
Vietnamese fencing has never won a medal at this tournament. However, the results of each fencer will also help accumulate points to be ranked in the world rankings.
Before arriving in Hong Kong (China), the Vietnamese fencing team competed in the 2026 Asian Championship in India. Phuoc Den, Xuan Loi and Thuy Trinh competed in turn.
However, we have not won a medal at the 2026 Asian Championships.
This year, the Vietnamese fencing team is expected to participate in ASIAD 20.
The 3 players competing in the 2026 World Championship are currently professionally prepared fencers to go to ASIAD 20 in Japan.
Because only 3 fencers participate, we will participate in individual events without participating in team events at the 2026 World Championships.
The entire tournament has 12 events organized with swords, three-edged swords, and sabre swords. The tournament will close on July 29.
