This year, Vietnam will host the 2026 Southeast Asian Sword Championship and the competition venue will be Quang Ninh.
The swordplay department (Vietnam Department of Physical Education and Sports) has reported the professional preparation for the tournament to the leaders of the sports sector.
In addition, the inspection of facilities in Quang Ninh serving the tournament is also being built. According to the program, the tournament is expected to be held in October this year.
The organizing committee will include contents for 3 events including three-sided sword, slash sword and spear sword for men and women.
The most recent Southeast Asian swordplay championship was held in 2024. Last year, due to the SEA Games 33 competition program, the Southeast Asian Swordplay Federation only hosted the Southeast Asian Youth Swordplay Championship 2025.
Swordplay is a sport that attracts investment from many leading sports in the region. Host Vietnam believes that many top sword players in Southeast Asia will participate in the tournament in October this year.
This year, sword athletes from various countries will participate in ASIAD 20 held in September in Japan. After this tournament, the swordplay force of Southeast Asia will come to Vietnam to compete.
Vietnamese swordplay has just participated in the most recent international tournament, SEA Games 33 in Thailand. We have won 3 gold medals, 2 silver medals and 5 bronze medals in the above competition.
