This year's tournament took place from June 18 to 24 at Novaworld Phan Thiet, Binh Thuan province, attracting the participation of over 700 athletes from 33 units, provinces, cities and sectors across the country such as: Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Can Tho, Thanh Hoa, Military Team, People's Public Security... and host Binh Thuan.
Athletes will compete in 78 sets of medals including: 32 singles, doubles, multiplex, teamwork, attack kick and 46 mixed weight classes in 3 age groups: 12-15 years old, 16-18 years old and 19-21 years old.
According to the issued regulations of the organizing committee, each unit is only allowed to register to attend no more than 50% of the entrance exam and no more than 50% of the competition weightings at each age. Each athlete is allowed to participate in no more than 3 events.
This tournament is not only an opportunity for young martial arts students to demonstrate their talent and practice hard, but also contributes to spreading the spirit of martial arts, discipline and the identity of Vietnamese martial arts. The tournament also aims to celebrate the 87th anniversary of the founding of Vovinam - Viet Vo Dao.
Among Vietnamese martial arts, Vovinam has developed on the largest scale with more than 2 million students in more than 70 countries and territories around the world; becoming a sport that receives enthusiastic participation from the majority of people; being included in the curriculum in schools, contributing to promoting the national martial arts to spread and develop more and more.
Notably, this is considered the last national tournament for some provincial and municipal units before the merger. Therefore, the matches became more intense when athletes and groups wanted to leave their mark on their team's jersey.
