The tournament took place from March 9 to March 15 at Lanh Binh Thang Stadium (District 11). The tournament brings together 24 teams representing 22 districts, towns and cities of Thu Duc, along with Ho Chi Minh City Sports Talent High School and Nguyen Thi Dinh Sports Talent High School.
Vice President of Vovinam Vietnam Federation - Mr. Nguyen Hoang Hiep shared: "This year's tournament with the participation of more than 1,600 athletes will be a great opportunity for students to demonstrate their talents, practice their health and promote the spirit of national martial arts. We hope the tournament will promote the school sports movement, especially Vovinam, to develop strongly".
The opening ceremony of the tournament was attended by famous international martial artists such as Florin Macovei - Vice President of Vovinam World Federation and Vittirio Cera - President of Vovinam World Federation Sports Committee. These two martial artists were moved by the strong and beautiful Vovinam martial arts music performances of the martial arts students.
This year's tournament has a total of 88 sets of medals with three main competitions including: boxing, competition and Vovinam martial arts. In particular, the Vovinam martial arts music event witnessed the participation of many students with 48 teams, marking the strong development of this sport in Ho Chi Minh City. Notably, Vovinam HCMC has created and registered the copyright of Vo music 1, currently taught at more than 700 high schools across the country.
The tournament is not only an opportunity for athletes to compete but also an opportunity for young people to exchange, learn and develop life skills. With the slogan "Healthy to learn, practice to mature", the Ho Chi Minh City Vovinam Student Sports Tournament will continue to spread the spirit of martial arts and build a strong school sports movement.
