At about 3 pm on September 22, Mr. N.D. D. (36 years old, residing in Chien Dan commune, Da Nang city) was driving a motorbike across a self-opened passageway in the Tam Thanh - Tam Ky section and collided with a train.
The strong collision caused Mr. D. and the motorbike to be swept away by the train. The victim was discovered about 60m from the collision site; the motorbike was about 300m away. After completing the procedures, functional agencies handed over the body to the family for funeral arrangements. The train had to stop at the section for about 16 minutes to handle the incident.
This is the second railway accident recorded in Da Nang in nearly two months. Previously, at about 9:55 pm on August 4, train HH16 running from Quang Ngai station to the North. When reaching Km870+950, belonging to the Diem Pho - Tam Ky section (Tam Xuan commune), the train crew discovered a man standing at the edge of the taluy, inside the railway boundary.
The train crew honked the warning horn and braked urgently but it was too late. The man was killed on the spot by the train.
Two railway accidents show the risk of unsafety at intersections, people's walkways and railway areas where people voluntarily enter.
