In the decisive match against Canada, the Thai women's volleyball team only needs to win 1 point to keep a place in VNL next season. With determination and a brave fighting spirit, the Southeast Asian representative entered the match impressively when winning 25-17 in the first set.
The match then became a breathless chase, especially in the 4th set - the moment that decided the fate of the team from the land of the Golden Temple.
When the score of set 4 reached 25-23 in favor of Thailand, the players of this team and fans could not contain their emotions. Despite losing 2-3 in the end, the Southeast Asian representative still got valuable points to successfully stay in the league.
Captain Ajcharaporn scored 27 points, Pimpichaya contributed 23 points, along with the timely brilliance of Thatdao and Sasipapron to help Thailand continue to be the representative of Southeast Asian volleyball in VNL.
On the other hand, South Korea had to sadly say goodbye to the tournament, having only won 1 victory and 5 points throughout the season. Despite showing determination to improve after disappointing seasons, the Korean team still could not overcome opponents of equal strength such as Bulgaria or France.
Both of those unfortunate losses prevented them from taking their final chances.
The relegation means that Korea will participate in the AVC Nations Cup 2026 - where the Vietnamese team is the reigning champion for three consecutive times.
The reunion next year between the two teams promises to be full of fate, as Vietnam has twice overcome Korea at the AVC Championship and ASIAD 2023.
However, the return of this fateful opponent will certainly make the journey to defend the throne of Vietnam more arduous.
