According to information from Becamex HCMC on July 29, the striker born in 2003 suffered an injury to his left knee. Initial diagnosis results show that Vi Hao is likely to have surgery and will need a long time for treatment and recovery.
This is a shock to Bui Vi Hao personally as he has just returned to play not long after a fractured sternum, causing him to be out for nearly 8 months. The 23-year-old striker was once considered one of the promising faces of Vietnamese football and a member of the Vietnamese national team that won the ASEAN Cup 2024.
Vi Hao's continued injury has caused Becamex TPHCM to lose an important option in attack before the new season. Previously, the team added foreign striker Daniel Dos Anjos and naturalized striker Hoang Vu Samson to strengthen attacking power.
To cope with the personnel situation, the coaching staff of Becamex TPHCM decided to bring Ha Duc Chinh back to the team. The 29-year-old striker used to wear the jersey of the Thu Dau Mot team in the 2024-2025 season before moving to Bac Ninh to play.
Ha Duc Chinh's return is expected to help Becamex TPHCM increase the squad depth in the context of Bui Vi Hao having to be sidelined for a long time. Coach Gerard Albadalejo also believes that this striker will regain his form under the new tactical system.
According to the plan, Becamex HCMC will play 9 friendly matches to prepare for the 2026-2027 National First Division League, which kicks off on September 11.
