Ho Chi Minh City Club is transferred, and may change its name to Ho Chi Minh City Police in the near future.

This afternoon (September 8), the leaders of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee had a working session with the Department of Culture - Sports, Ho Chi Minh City Police, Ho Chi Minh City Football Federation (HFF) and representatives of Ho Chi Minh City clubs to discuss the orientation of activities in the coming time. Here, the parties agreed to transfer the team from the old unit to Ho Chi Minh City Police to take over.

According to initial information, Ho Chi Minh City Police will receive the entire team and officially register to participate in the upcoming V.League season. Options related to the transfer, operation of the team and long-term development plans will continue to be discussed by both sides in the coming time.

In recent seasons, Ho Chi Minh City club has often struggled with relegation matches due to financial limitations. In the 2024-2025 season, the team is only ranked 10th out of 14 teams, earning 28 points after 26 rounds.

Therefore, the transition to the public security sector is expected to open up a more methodical investment phase, helping Ho Chi Minh City football flourish again after the merger with localities such as Binh Duong and Ba Ria - Vung Tau.

The appearance of Ho Chi Minh City Police Club on the top football map promises to bring an exciting industry derby match in V.League, when the team will face Hanoi Police - a team that is a strong force in the tournament. This is also an opportunity for fans to recall the golden age of Ho Chi Minh City Police in the past.
