International integration brings many images
Striker Tran Thi Thanh Thuy is the only player of Vietnamese women's volleyball currently competing abroad. She is currently playing for Gunma Green Wings (Japan). After the 2025 National Championship, Vietnamese women's volleyball will continue to have players Vi Thi Nhu Quynh and Tran Thi Bich Thuy, respectively, going to Indonesia and Japan to compete. However, the players have not officially announced their international contracts for this tournament.
At the 2025 World Championship in Thailand, the two players were highly appreciated by the coaches of the Polish and German national teams. From there, it can be seen that Vietnamese players competing internationally have many advantages in promoting their brands, bringing many results to themselves.
Former middle blocker Nguyen Thi Ngoc Hoa is the Vietnamese women's volleyball player who has achieved the most outstanding results against Tran Thi Thanh Thuy. This player won the 2015 Asian Women's Club Volleyball Championship with Bangkok Glass VC (Thailand). At that time, domestic media published a lot of information about Ngoc Hoa as the first Vietnamese player to achieve international results with a team outside of Vietnam.
In the early stages, Vietnamese women's volleyball has many players playing abroad. We have started to build an image of the best athletes and Vietnamese women's volleyball has received more attention," said General Secretary of the Vietnam Volleyball Federation - Mr. Le Tri Truong.
Volleyball players wait for development opportunities
In fact, the 3 teams including VTV Binh Dien Long An (managed by Tran Thi Thanh Thuy), Duc Giang Chemicals (managed by Tran Thi Bich Thuy), Quang Ninh (in charge of Vi Thi Nhu Quynh) created the best conditions for players to go abroad. In return, each team still seeks opportunities to develop their image in the domestic arena, not depending on individual athletes. Each player has the advantage of developing his expertise when playing abroad. However, with the market mechanism, Vietnamese women's volleyball accepts players changing teams according to professional needs and income.
VTV Binh Dien Long An volleyball team agreed to let Tran Thi Thanh Thuy compete abroad to develop the player most comprehensively. The team accepts losing their best player, even though domestic performance pressure is important.
We look at the volleyball regions of Thailand, Indonesia, Philippines... that have decided to let female players compete abroad to further develop their image.
Mr. Le Tri Truong once affirmed that Vietnamese volleyball cannot be called professional.
"To have a professional volleyball foundation, each team will have to be professional to develop the whole team. In particular, players playing abroad will bring general development to Vietnamese volleyballs culture - General Secretary Le Tri Truong once shared.
Previously, Vietnamese women's volleyball only expected players to come to Thailand to compete. With their current professional capacity, the Vietnamese female players have found the European and Asian markets. Runner-up Tran Thi Thanh Thuy arrived in Turkey at the end of last year, creating a big impact in the media. However, Vietnamese women's volleyball has not benefited from this because we are still looking for opportunities to become semi-professional in organizing and competing professionally.
