The new Department of Physical Education and Sports works with FPT University on introducing archery in teaching and training and on May 24 is an experience for students at the National Sports Training Center (Nhon). There may be many more schools coming.
Universities, as people often think, are a place filled with the exciting atmosphere of youth, a busy, stressful place because of "deadline", credits and early appointments... On the contrary, archery is a game of quiet.
In other words, this is a sport in which the archer only flies when the heart is still. So, is it appropriate to include archery in universities? Whether or not it is a good idea, but at least the contrasting combination between sports requires absolute concentration, patience to every breath in a vibrant environment is certainly interesting.
Because it is possible, archery is a therapy for young people to find some peace within themselves during the period of full energy and desire for freedom, flying and dancing. School sports have long been widespread in some traditional sports - football, volleyball, badminton, cloud badminton, jumping rope, running... Another option such as archery, after all, not only enriches students' lives, but also opens up "new lands" for Vietnamese sports.
One arrow and many targets. However, for that arrow to fly far away, it must have an arrow, a rope, a sight and above all, someone patient enough to stand behind it.
However, the problem is that not every school has enough land for a standard training ground, making it easier for the school budget or students to cover the price of a specialized set. That is not to mention training, maintenance, safety... - things that are not easy in terms of finance or management.
Of course, it is only the first step. But once you have an idea and start implementing it, you need to have a methodical, appropriate, and effective investment strategy to avoid wasting effort and money. Hopefully, it will not become a flashy idea and then "dead" due to many difficulties and obstacles, so that Vietnamese sports have more opportunities to discover and develop talents.
