The race to celebrate F1's 70th anniversary is the 5th race of the 2020 season. verstappen started the race in 4th place and completed it in 1 hour 19 minutes 41 seconds, about 11.3 seconds faster than Lewis Hamilton to finish second.
Red Bull applied the perfect strategy when allowingverstappen to start the race on hard tires. He immediately overcame Nico Hulkenberg of Racing Point and then overcame Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas when the two Mercedes riders had to change tires in the 13th and 15th races.
The gap between Red Bull and Mercedes races is longer after each race because Mercedes' new tires continue to have problems. In the 26th round, Bottas took the lead when verstappen came in to change tires, but just a few seconds after leaving the tire exchange station, verstappen easily regained this position.
verstappen once again demonstrated their superior ability and this victory was the result of continuous efforts, good tactics and a bit of a guilt in not complying with the team's instructions in not keeping up with the Mercedes team in the first rounds. This wasverstappen's first win at the Silverstone race and in the 2020 season, this result also took him to 2nd place in the rankings.
In the second place, Hamilton still scored a record: 155 standing on the podium to receive the award, equal to the record of legendary F1 driver Michael Schumacher.
This is also a successful race for the French racer of the Ferrari team - Charles Leclerc. Although finishing 4th, Leclerc considered it a victory because this athlete thought he would finish the race in 8th place or worse.
Since the beginning of the season, Ferrari's cars have been continuously complained about for speed and quality. Leclerc had to convince the Ferrari team to apply a one-time tire replacement strategy. 4th place proved Leclerc's correct strategy, while his teammate Sebastian Vettel was less lucky to finish 12th.
The 6th race of the season will take place in Spain on 14-16.
