At the 2026 Asian MMA Championships, the Vietnamese MMA team left many imprints, notably the victory of female fighter Lo Thi Phung in the women's 49kg weight class, modern MMA format.
The journey to the championship of "preschool teacher" Lo Thi Phung was not easy at all. Before entering the final match, she successively defeated Thanyaret Suksamran (Thailand) and Narantur Enkhjin (Mongolia).
Both are highly appreciated for their physical strength and international competition experience. However, the Vietnamese representative still showed stability and bravery to win the right to enter the final.

Lo Thi Phung's opponent in the gold medal match is Akbaridastgerdi Mobina. The Iranian fighter is considered a strong contender in this weight class.
However, the dien bien on the ring tilted towards the Vietnamese martial artist. Immediately after entering the game, Lo Thi Phung actively attacked, approached and quickly brought the opponent down to the ring.
Although Mobina tried to escape the situation and counter-attack, Lo Thi Phung still controlled the situation, successfully performed the lock-in technique forcing the opponent to ask to lose, thereby winning in the form of submission.
The gold medal at the continental tournament continues to affirm Lo Thi Phung's position in the regional MMA village. Before pursuing a professional martial arts path, she used to be a kindergarten teacher and was known by fans with the nickname "MMA teacher".

Previously, in 2024, Lo Thi Phung was crowned champion at the beach JuJitsu World Cup held in Thailand, creating a solid foundation for the process of switching to MMA competition.
Besides Lo Thi Phung's outstanding achievement, the Vietnamese MMA team also won another bronze medal in the 60kg weight class of the traditional MMA event of martial artist Luu Duc Manh.
Assessing the overall results, leader of the Vietnamese MMA team Tong Ngoc Hoa said that the athletes encountered many difficulties when facing countries with developed MMA backgrounds, but the whole team still completed the set goals.
It's a bit of a bit of a bit of a bit of a bit of a bit.
