The coaching staff of the Vietnamese MMA Team has registered 10 boxers to China to compete in the 2026 Asian Championship including: Tran Ngoc Luong (men's 65kg), Luu Duc Manh (60kg men's), Tran Minh Trung (men's 71kg), Nguyen Duc Thinh (men's 56kg), Dinh Van Khuyen (men's 56kg), Do Huy Hoang (60kg men's), Quang Van Minh (men's 71kg), Ban Van Hoang (men's 77kg), Lo Thi Phung (women's 49kg), Vo Vu Le (women's 54kg).
This year, the 2026 Asian MMA Championship is organized by the Asian General Martial Arts Association and is the official competition program. The matches are held in Luzhou city (China) from January 9 to 11.
Notably, the Asian General Martial Arts Association will accumulate professional points with martial artist rankings at the 2026 Asian Championships before participating in ASIAD 20 in Japan and the 2026 Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games in Saudi Arabia.
For the first time, the Asian Olympic Council (OCA) has included MMA in the official competition program at ASIAD 20 in Japan. In this Games, MMA will organize 6 events: Traditional MMA 65kg, 77kg men; Modern MMA 60kg, 71kg men; Traditional MMA 60kg women and Modern MMA 54kg women.
The Vietnamese general martial arts team will focus on competing while grasping the expertise of opponents at the 2026 Asian Championship, thereby having more preparation for ASIAD 20. The coaching staff of the team said that many top martial artists of the continent will compete in this Asian tournament.
MMA was held at SEA Games 33 in Thailand, however, the competition results were not included in the overall standings.
