Nguyen Le Quang Khoi, son of former Vietnam national team striker Nguyen Quang Hai, is one of 18 young players selected by Ho Chi Minh City Club to participate in a three-year long-term training program at Gremio Club (Brazil), according to a cooperation agreement between the two teams within the framework of developing Vietnam youth football.
This training program is part of a cooperation agreement between Ho Chi Minh City Club and Gremio Club, expected to start from August 2025. The list of selected players mainly comes from the Juventus Vietnam Academy, in which Quang Khoi is a notable name.
Born in 2009, Quang Khoi is playing as a striker for the Ba Ria - Vung Tau U17 team. He made a strong impression in the 2024 National U17 qualifiers with 8 goals, notably with a double against Khanh Hoa and a hat-trick in the win over Binh Phuoc. His impressive performance helps Quang Khoi regularly participate in youth team calls-ups, from U16 to U19 Vietnam.
Quang Khoi is also highly appreciated for his disciplinary spirit and desire to pursue professional football.
In addition to Quang Khoi, other young players selected include: Truong Nhac Minh, Nguyen Tan, Nguyen Hong Quang, Le Kha Duc, Vo Tuan Phong, Dau Quang Hung, Nguyen Hoang Gia Nguyen, Ho Le Nguyen Chuong, Pham Duy Long, Tran Anh Quan, Pham Nguyen Tuan Anh, Pham Minh Quan, Duong Hien Phu Ngoc, Nguyen Bao Nam, Le Nguyen Anh and Ho Chi Dan.
Gremio Club has produced many of Brazil's top stars, currently led by coach Luiz Felipe Scolari, who helped Brazil win the 2002 World Cup. This training trip promises to be a golden opportunity for Vietnamese players to improve their expertise, practice their physical strength and competitive spirit in a top-notch environment.
The agreement between Ho Chi Minh City Club and Gremio was signed within the framework of the BRICS Summit, witnessed by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, VFF President Tran Quoc Tuan and many senior leaders of the two countries. This is also the next step from the memorandum of understanding between VFF and the Brazilian Football Federation signed in March 2025, demonstrating the long-term and sustainable development orientation of Vietnamese football in the future.
