Unpredictable competition at the National Volleyball Championship

MINH DƯƠNG |

Phase 1 of the 2025 National Volleyball Championship showed the heat in the stands and professional quality before the match.

Expecting a closed stadium

Today (March 22), phase 1 of the 2025 National Volleyball Championship will officially kick off at the Dong Anh District Gymnasium (Hanoi). The attraction of the tournament was created right from the days of preparation.

The organizers have sold tickets to people to watch. The ticket price for each competition day (including 4 matches) is 50,000 VND/ticket. With ticket prices considered suitable, the local organizing committee hosting the tournament hopes that the audience will fill the stands during the tournament days.

As planned, by March 19, tickets to watch the first group stage matches were sold out. Many fans had difficulty because they had not had time to buy tickets to cheer.

This has shown that the attraction created by the tournament has changed strongly. In previous seasons held in Vinh Phuc, Ninh Binh, Khanh Hoa... the number of spectators entering the stadium to cheer in the group stage matches at the competition locations in the air was high. Live viewers were only crowded when the teams entered the finals.

Above all, up to now, Dong Anh district has always been an area with a great competition movement and love for volleyball. Many village festivals and grassroots tournaments are regularly held in this locality, attracting the attention of many people. Therefore, phase 1 of the 2025 National Volleyball Championship promises to show the image of a packed audience to cheer for the teams.

Unpredictable competition

To attract spectators to the stadium, the prerequisite is the professional quality of each match. Phase 1 of this year's tournament brings together the most quality players in Vietnamese volleyball at present such as Thanh Thuy, Bich Tuyen, Pham Thi Hien, Lam Oanh... (women) and Ngoc Thuan, Van Duy, The Khai, Duy Tuyen, Van Hiep... (men).

In addition, the tournament recorded 18 registered foreign players (8 women's team players, 8 men's team players). The three teams have 2 foreign players: Duc Giang Chemicals (female), The Cong Tan Cang, Ho Chi Minh City Police (male). This year's foreign players have a variety of activities when the women's event attracts players from Bulgaria, Serbia, Türkiye, Thailand, Poland, Canada, Cuba, Bosnia & Hezegovina. While the men's event has hitters from Thailand, Poland, Cuba, Brazil.

With the above factors, the 2025 National Volleyball Championship is considered a not-so-compromising battle. With many quality players, the competition will be unpredictable, and unexpected factors will easily occur.

According to the schedule, in phase 1, 8 men's teams and 8 women's teams will compete in 5 matches. Then in the second stage, the teams will compete in the last two matches of the group stage and then continue to participate in the final round and relegation round.

In phase 1, the teams will compete for 1 day and then have 1 day off to help the players ensure their physical strength, while the coaching staff will learn from experience for the next matches. Competing at high density forces each team to calculate specific tactics.

"The group stage of phase 1 will compete with a high density of consecutive matches and a large number of matches. So we understand that no team wants to lose. In addition, if the teams do not achieve good results from phase 1, it will be very difficult to correct their mistakes in the group stage of phase 2," emphasized Mr. Le Tri Truong, General Secretary of the Vietnam Volleyball Federation.

Phase 1 of the 2025 National Volleyball Championship will take place from March 22 to March 31.
