2 years ago at the 32nd SEA Games in Cambodia, Tran Dinh Thang was the last Gold Medalist (4th Gold Medalist) for the Vietnam Weightlifting Team. After 2 years, this handsome guy surprised the judges at the 33rd SEA Games weightlifting competition when he conquered the weight class over 94kg for men and won the decisive Gold Medal. Tran Dinh Thang's Gold Medal is the only championship of the Vietnam Weightlifting Team in Thailand.
A little coincidence in the 32nd and 33rd SEA Games, Dinh Thang's results all had a nervous reaction after the referee's decisions. At the 32nd SEA Games, in the final round of the push-ups, the referee blew the whistle, saying that the players had made mistakes, but at that time the coaching staff complained and won the gold medal to help Dinh Thang win the Gold Medal.
On the platform at the 33rd SEA Games (December 17), the referee still saw Dinh Thang as the center of attention for the second foul in the competition.
Dinh Thang expressed: "I was caught making a mistake in the second sentencing. At that time, the coaching staff was under a lot of pressure, but I knew my true ability. I successfully sent the lift for the third time and then had success in the push-up. This Gold Medal is very valuable because I completely relieve the pressure on the whole team because I did not win a Gold Medal in the previous days".
2 years ago, Tran Dinh Thang defeated Ringsuriya Panya (Thailand) at the 32nd SEA Games in Cambodia in the men's weight class over 89kg. Our player achieved a total weight of 359kg while the Thai player achieved 358kg. In the 33rd SEA Games, they continued to meet in the weight class over 94kg. Dinh Thang won the Gold Medal with a total weight of 366kg while Ringsuriya Panya continued to lose 1kg to our player (365kg).
Dinh Thang's teacher at the Hai Phong weightlifting team is famous player Nguyen Thi Thiet.
