Trinh Van Vinh did not win a gold medal at the 2025 National Weightlifting Championship after moving to the weightlifting competition.

Trinh Van Vinh participated in the 2024 Paris Olympics (France) in the men's 61kg weightlifting event. Last year, the Bac Ninh athlete won the gold medal in the above event at the 2024 National Weightlifting Championship.

This year, Trinh Van Vinh registered to compete in the men's 65kg weight class at the 2025 National Weightlifting Championship in Da Nang. The coaching staff of the Vietnam Weightlifting Team said that the change will make Van Vinh suitable for the new content applied by the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF).

From June 2025, world weightlifting events will only organize weightlifting competitions in the weight category of 60kg, 65kg, 71kg, 79kg, 88kg, 98kg, 110kg and over 110kg (men), 48kg, 53kg, 58kg, 63kg, 69kg, 77kg, 86kg, and over 86kg (women).

This year's 65kg men's weight class has 11 athletes participating. Trinh Van Vinh achieved a lift of 135kg and a push of 171kg, reaching a total of 306kg, ranking second.

The overall champion was Truong Minh Tri (An Giang) with a weight of 310kg (138kg for lifting, 172kg for pushing). Tran Minh Tri is the current SEA Games champion and the current Asian champion. However, this achievement of Minh Tri belongs to the men's 67kg weight class.

After the 2024 Paris Olympics (France), boxer Trinh Van Vinh has not appeared much in international tournaments. However, the player is still considered a good professional face of the Vietnam Weightlifting Team.

Head of the weightlifting department (Vietnam Department of Physical Education and Sports) - Mr. Nguyen Huy Hung said that the competition results at the 2025 National Championship of each athlete are the professional index for the coaching staff to review the force participating in the 33rd SEA Games in Thailand.

This year, the 33rd SEA Games Organizing Committee organized new weight classes for weightlifting: 60kg, 65kg, 71kg, 79kg, 88kg, 94kg and over 94kg (men); 48kg, 53kg, 58kg, 63kg, 69kg, 77kg and over 77kg (women).

After the national championship, the Vietnam Weightlifting Team will participate in the 2025 World Championship in Norway in October.

The 2025 National Weightlifting Championship will run until August 26. The players of the national team and the national youth team have returned to their home team to compete.
