The coaching staff of the Vietnam Weightlifting Team said that the players will start training in China to accumulate expertise before going to Thailand to participate in the 33rd SEA Games.
The training session in China will last until December 8. The coaching staff of the Vietnam Weightlifting Team did not share a detailed list of 11 players training in China due to the need to ensure professional tactics. Everyone arrived at the training ground on October 19.
Through research, the athlete who won the gold medal at the 32nd SEA Games in Cambodia, Tran Minh Tri, is on the list of 11 people training in China this time.
At the 33rd SEA Games, the Weightlifting Organizing Committee will organize competitions in 7 weight categories for men and 7 weight categories for women. The contents regulated by the International Weight Federation (IWF) include 60kg, 65kg, 71kg, 79kg, 88kg, 94kg and over 94kg (men); 48kg, 53kg, 58kg, 63kg, 69kg, 77kg and over 77kg for women).
This year, the Vietnam Weightlifting Team participated in the 2025 Asian Championship and the 2025 Southeast Asian Championship. We will not participate in the 2025 World Championship, which recently concluded in Norway in early October, due to focusing on the goal of the 33rd SEA Games.
At the 32nd SEA Games in Cambodia, the Vietnam Weightlifting Team won 4 gold medals, 1 silver medal and 3 bronze medals. The 4 gold medals went to artists Lai Gia Thanh (55kg men), Tran Minh Tri (67kg men), Nguyen Quoc Toan (89kg men), Tran Dinh Thang (over 89kg men).
