On May 17, Da Nang City People's Committee held the opening ceremony of the 10th City Sports Festival in 2026 at Tien Son Sports Palace.

The Da Nang City Sports Festival is a large-scale sports event held every 4 years, to honor the movement "All people practice physical exercise following the example of the great Uncle Ho".
Spreading the spirit of healthy living, dynamic living in the community and selecting outstanding athletes towards the 2026 National Sports Games.
The opening ceremony had 25 parade blocks demonstrating force with the participation of more than 3,000 athletes, coaches, referees, actors, students, officials, soldiers and people.
The Congress organizes competitions in 25 sports and sub-sports, including chess, Chinese chess, table tennis, women's futsal, cross country, tug of war, traditional martial arts, vovinam, athletics, swimming, taekwondo, karate, billiards and many other sea sports and movements.
Before the opening ceremony, the city organized competitions in chess, Chinese chess, table tennis, women's futsal, cross-country, stick pushing, tug of war, nipple and crossbow shooting. The competitions will take place until September 2026.

Speaking at the ceremony, Ms. Nguyen Thi Anh Thi - Vice Chairwoman of Da Nang City People's Committee, Head of the Congress Organizing Committee emphasized that the Party Committee, government and people of the city always identify the development of physical education and sports as an important task to improve people's health, build high-quality human resources, contribute to building a healthy cultural life, strengthen the great national unity bloc and promote the image of dynamic, civilized, and modern Da Nang.
The Congress takes place in the context that Da Nang is strongly implementing the two-level local government model, contributing to improving the effectiveness and efficiency of state management, and promoting the proactiveness of grassroots levels in serving the people.
This is also a premise for the physical education and sports movement to be organized more widely, synchronously and closer to the people.
At the opening ceremony, there were cultural and artistic activities to welcome, parades to show force, torch relays, oaths to athletes and referees, and a special art program.
