On August 31, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism coordinated with the Vietnam Television Center for the Central Highlands (VTV8) and Da Nang Radio and Television (DNRT) to organize the Da Nang City Traditional Boat Race - VTV8.
The activity is to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the successful August Revolution (August 19, 1945 - August 19, 2025) and the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2025).
This year's tournament has the largest scale ever, attracting 26 teams with 520 athletes from communes and wards in Da Nang city.
The men's boat has 20 racing boats with 400 athletes from 17 communes and wards: Hoa Cuong, Hoa Xuan, Hai Van, Son Tra, An Hai, Cam Le, Nam Phuoc, Thu Duc, Thu Bon, Hoi An, Hoi An Tay, Hoi An Dong, Vu Gia, Dien Ban, Tam Xuan, Dai Loc, Xuan Phu. The men's boat will compete in 1 round of 20, 5 doubles rounds, equivalent to 7.5 km.
The women's boat has 6 racing boats with 120 athletes from 7 communes and wards: An Khe, Thu Duc, Thu Bon, Tam Xuan, Hoa Cuong, Ngu Hanh Son, An Hai. Women's boat: Competition 1 round/6 teams, 3 doubles rounds, equivalent to 4.5 km.
Each racing boat team consists of 17 athletes selected for all positions on the boat, the boat races according to the traditional boat model.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Ms. Nguyen Thi Anh Thi - Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Da Nang City said that after more than 28 years of separation, July 1, 2025 marked an important turning point when Da Nang City and Quang Nam Province officially returned to a common home.
Da Nang City is currently having a new space, new development momentum on the journey with the whole country entering a new era - the era of the Vietnamese people's rise.
Today's boat racing is not only a simple sporting activity but also a festival for the city's people, an opportunity for us to immerse ourselves in the vibrant atmosphere, consolidate and promote the noble spirit of sportsmanship and express pride in the heroic, civilized and modern homeland of Da Nang, Ms. Thi emphasized.
