The tournament belongs to the PPA Tour Asia system, has a total prize value of 50,000 USD and is the fourth leg of the 2026 season. The champion of each event will receive 500 bonus points on the PPA Tour Asia rankings, creating an advantage in the season's point accumulation race.
PPA Asia 500 Tokyo Open 2026 is held at Tachikawa Tachihi Gymnasium with 11 indoor courts meeting international standards. Professional events including men's singles, women's singles, men's doubles, women's doubles and mixed doubles will take place continuously for four days, from qualifying rounds to finals.
In the men's singles, American player Zane Ford is seeded No. 1. Meanwhile, Tama Shimabukuro - an athlete of American and Japanese descent is seeded No. 2. On the women's side, Kiora Kunimoto is considered a bright candidate for the championship when holding the No. 1 seed position.

For Vietnam, Sophia Huynh Tran will compete in three events including women's singles, women's doubles and mixed doubles. This is an opportunity for this player to continue to accumulate international competition experience, while improving her ranking in the PPA Tour Asia system.
According to information from the organizers, some Vietnamese players have registered to participate but could not participate due to obstacles in completing visa procedures. Therefore, Sophia Huynh Tran became the only representative of Vietnamese pickleball at this year's tournament.
PPA Tour Asia was established in 2025 to develop a professional pickleball tournament system in Asia. Matches of PPA Asia 500 Tokyo Open 2026 will be broadcast live in Vietnam from July 1st.
