Ensuring adequate nutrition for athletes participating in the 33rd SEA Games

HOÀI VIỆT |

The Vietnamese sports industry is focusing on preparing for the 33rd SEA Games, with the goal of not letting any athlete lack nutrition. Each key athlete is guaranteed a standard of 480,000 VND/day, helping to maintain the best physical strength, spirit and form towards high achievements at the congress.

All in one task

The National High-level Athletes Training Center (Hanoi) is managing 79 coaches and 490 athletes of 25 national sports teams.

The National Sports Training Center (Ho Chi Minh City) has 50 coaches and 202 athletes from 20 national sports teams. Meanwhile, the National Youth Athletes Training Center (Da Nang) manages 21 coaches and 102 athletes of 9 national teams.

When developing a plan to prepare for the 33rd SEA Games, national sports teams work specifically with coaching committees to review and select the best athletes to register to compete. These are athletes who are predicted to win medals. Each Training Center has coaches and athletes in the list of key players preparing for the 33rd SEA Games (depending on the competition registration content).

Responsible for ensuring professional preparation for coaches and athletes, the Vietnam Department of Physical Education and Sports requires each Center to care for and provide nutritional care in accordance with regulations for each member preparing to participate in the 33rd SEA Games. Since the first months of the year, the list of preparations for the 33rd SEA Games has been carefully reviewed by leaders of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Department of Physical Education and Sports of Vietnam, and the coaching staff of national teams in the sports to avoid errors.

On September 1, all countries (including Vietnam) officially registered their card-making forces to participate in the 33rd SEA Games with the Organizing Committee.

The value of each medal

The Vietnam women's volleyball team recently spoke up that some members in the training list from October 25 who do not enjoy the special regime of VND480,000/person/day will affect the spirit of professional training. In reality, national teams must review the number of training members to prepare for the 33rd SEA Games when developing a participation plan.

The regulation in Circular 86/2020/TT-BTC implemented by the Ministry of Finance from October 26, 2020 on detailed nutritional regimes for high-performance sports coaches and high-performance athletes has specifically stated: Coaches and athletes called up to national sports teams to prepare for the SEA Games, ASIAD and Olympics are entitled to a nutritional regime of VND 480,000/person/day for no more than 90 days.

Not only the Vietnam Women's Volleyball Team, the managers did not miss any key players in the national sports teams preparing to participate in the 33rd SEA Games.

Key athletes all receive a special allowance (food allowance) of 480,000 VND/person/day. Vietnam Sports has developed a streamlined training plan, not spread out.
