European foreign players at the national volleyball championship

HOÀNG HUÊ |

Phase 2 of the 2024 National Volleyball Championship will feature quality foreign players from Europe.

Phase 2 of the 2024 National Volleyball Championship for women will start from November 7 to November 17 in Lao Cai. The 9 teams participating in phase 2 include the Information Corps, VTV Binh Dien Long An, LPB Ninh Binh, Thanh Hoa, Duc Giang Chemicals, Quang Ninh, Thai Binh, Quang Ninh and Hanoi.

Currently, the teams are practicing hard, actively preparing for the upcoming matches. To realize the set goals, besides practicing tactics, this is also the time for the teams to train foreign players, helping foreign players get acquainted and get into the rhythm of the team.

It is worth mentioning that phase 2 does not have many foreign players from Thailand or China like every year. Instead, there is a group of quality foreign players from Europe.

With Joyce Agbolossou, she is expected to be a breath of fresh air in the squad of coach Thai Quang Lai and her teammates at VTV Binh Dien Long An. Before coming to Vietnam, this player played in a volleyball tournament in the Czech Republic. With a height of 1m83, playing in the main attacking position, Joyce Agbolossou has good first-step defense ability as well as sharp attacking tactical thinking in favorable positions.

Meanwhile, Jana Kulan coming to the Signal Corps is considered an extremely great contract. This hitter is also considered one of the most formidable foreign players to ever set foot in Vietnam to compete. Jana Kulan was born in 1987, has a height of up to 1m98, a blocking range of 3m10 and a jump of 3m18.

She has made her mark playing for 14 clubs with her excellent attacking and scoring ability. Despite being 37 years old, Kulan promises to be an important factor for the Signal Corps thanks to her good tactical vision and diverse attacking ability.

With an outstanding height of 1m86, Svetlana Sukhoverkhova promises to be a prominent factor, helping the Thai Binh women's team improve their ranking, escape the "red light" group to stay at the highest playground of Vietnamese volleyball after the 2024 season.

Born in 1992, Svetlana Sukhoverkhova has a lot of experience, having competed in prestigious tournaments in Russia and Belarus. This player not only possesses a fast, powerful playing style but also impresses with her effective defense.

Besides the above 3 faces, Katarina Pilepic (VietinBank), Yeliz Basa (Quang Ninh)... are also selected faces. All are present in Vietnam to prepare with their teams for phase 2.

The women's teams have about 2 weeks left to prepare professionally before officially competing in the second phase of the 2024 national championship. In order for foreign players to maximize their abilities, the coaching staff of each team must have notes and exercises so that domestic and foreign players can coordinate smoothly and harmoniously, aiming for the common goal of winning each match.
