Information on the proposal to increase social pension benefits quickly received attention, especially from the elderly who are and are about to enjoy the policy.
Real-world records show that most elderly people expressed joy and excitement at the above proposal, because although the increase is not large, it brings practical meaning in the context of increasing living costs.
Ms. Hoang Thi Hong (76 years old, Ninh Binh) said that she started receiving social pension benefits from October 2025, when she just turned 75 years old. Since having a monthly allowance of 500,000 VND, her life has become less difficult.

With additional allowances, I limit collecting scrap metal on hot sunny or cold rainy days. This amount also helps my husband and I cover breakfast and electricity bills every month," Ms. Hong shared.
Currently, Ms. Hong's main job is still collecting scrap metal, raising chickens with her husband to get eggs and raising cats for sale. The total income of the couple, including allowances, reaches about 3.5 million VND/month.
Previously, it took 4 years to increase from 360,000 VND to 500,000 VND, but now after only 1 year it has increased to 600,000 VND. This shows that the State is increasingly interested in the elderly. This increase is very timely to suit current prices," she said.
According to Ms. Hong, this additional increase will help her family have more expenses to compensate for essential items that are becoming increasingly expensive.
Not only that, Ms. Hong also shared her joy when thinking that her husband is about to reach 75 years old to receive the allowance. "The number of people receiving it is increasing, so such an increase is very meaningful," she added.
Meanwhile, although not eligible for benefits, Ms. Nguyen Thi Nhung (69 years old, Ninh Binh) also could not hide her emotion when hearing the news of the proposal to increase allowances.
I am considered near-poor, I may receive social pension benefits next year. When I heard the news of the increase to 600,000 VND, I was very touched, as if I had also received it," Ms. Nhung shared.
Currently, Ms. Nhung does the job of folding paper flowers and votive paper for hire, with an income of about 600,000-700,000 VND per month. For her, the allowance of 600,000 VND is a very significant amount.

In my hometown, I can take care of rice, vegetables, and eggs myself, so I don't spend much. If I have 600,000 VND, I will save it to buy more meat and nutritious foods, improving my daily meals," she said.
According to Ms. Nhung, social pension is a humane and practical policy for the elderly who do not have a stable income. Therefore, whether it increases much or little is precious.
It can be seen that the proposal to increase social pension benefits not only has the meaning of financial support, but is also a great source of spiritual encouragement, helping the elderly to feel more secure in life, especially improving the quality of daily meals.
