Director Ruangrit Santisuk said he accepted the invitation to participate in the script development and overall design for the two ceremonies of the 33rd SEA Games from March 2025.
The group initially consisted of only four people and had to invest in human resources, build stage models, and build performance ideas before submitting to competent authorities. After many rounds of reporting, the plan was approved and the crew began expanding to deploy detailed items.
During the preparation process, the group encountered many financial difficulties and had to adjust the design when there was a proposal to move the venue from Sanam Luang to Rajamangala Stadium for security reasons. The change of location means that the entire structure of the program must be rebuilt.
Since the end of September, according to Ruangrit, there have been some unusual signs when artists invited to participate said they had been contacted by another team before. When asked the management agency, the group did not receive clear response. They later learned that a new team directly led by a higher management level had surveyed Rajamangala Stadium.
Despite waiting two more weeks to receive official information, Ruangrit's group has not received confirmation about continuing or terminating the cooperation. Due to the lack of transparency and risks in the preparation process, the crew decided to stop all work, while there has been no announcement to cancel the project.
Director Ruangrit expressed regret that the project was stopped just over a month before the opening ceremony, saying that the remaining time was too short to develop a national-scale program.
He expressed his hope that the opening ceremony of the 33rd SEA Games will take place safely, fully and ensure the image of Thailand in front of regional friends, and sent his best wishes to the new team carrying the task.
