To keep "Gold" from losing value

At the end of October, France Football magazine's annual Ballon d'Or awards ceremony took place in Paris, where the winner was announced as Manchester City and Spain midfielder Rodri. The result caused a bit of controversy, as Vinicius Junior was also a strong candidate after his success with Real Madrid.

Each point of view has its own reasons, but if we ignore factors related to success and titles won in the 2023-2024 season, everyone must see that Rodri, Vinicius, or other candidates such as Jude Bellingham, Dani Carvajal... are all top quality players.

That is, if not this person, then that person deserves the value of the Golden Ball. There, the difference is very fragile, to see the comprehensiveness of the candidates...

In early November, the list of candidates for the Vietnam Golden Ball was announced, however, many people had a common feeling when looking at this list that no player was really outstanding enough to deserve an award like the Golden Ball.

With awards, people understand that it is a race for the best and most successful. But with Vietnamese football at the moment, it is difficult to talk about excellence. Even with the players in the club squad that won the V.League or National Cup, they are not the most promising candidates.

The Golden Ball is still the Golden Ball, it does not lose its value. But the context of Vietnamese football makes it lose its value. Therefore, it is not surprising that there has been controversy that trying to organize an award ceremony is like "trying to force a sticky rice cake".

There are still criteria, but people see more "lack" than "full" aspects to say whether it is worthy or not. Waiting until February 2025 - that is, after the AFF Cup (new name is ASEAN Championship), to organize the award ceremony is like "hoping for some affirmation", from some individual, as a basis to cling to.
