Binh Duong Club used to be a force in Vietnamese football. With a large investment from Becamex IDC, the team from the land of Thu has brought many famous stars and won the V.League 2007, 2008, 2014 and 2015 championships. In addition, this team also won the National Cup in 2007, 2008, 2014, 2015, and 2 National Cups in 2015 and 2018.
However, in the past 3 years, Binh Duong has struggled and only hidden in the relegation race. In the 2024-2025 season, despite a large investment and high goals, Binh Duong only finished in 8th place, in addition to the defeat against Song Lam Nghe An in the semi-finals of the National Cup.
Sharing with Lao Dong about the investment orientation for Binh Duong club in the new 2025-2026 season, Mr. Nguyen Van Hung - Chairman of the Board of Directors of Becamex IDC said: "Last year was the most difficult year in the past 3 years. We also want to exploit young athletes, but it is still difficult and time-consuming.
The goal this year is to continue to strengthen the young force. As people have previously said, "Ch Chelsea Vietnam", we also boldly take a look back at this year's season, buying many stars to support the current young force. It is very difficult to invest in young people from the beginning. We have had 3 difficult years and they are getting more and more difficult. I hope that in 2025-2026, Binh Duong club will have better progress, contributing to the future of Ho Chi Minh City".
When asked about the possibility of changing the name of Binh Duong club after the merger, Mr. Hung said: "Certainly not changing the name. When participating in Ho Chi Minh City, there was this club, that club, and he did not necessarily change his name to Ho Chi Minh City. The name Binh Duong is very familiar".
