Amorim will start his job at Old Trafford on November 11, after caretaker manager Ruud van Nistelrooy takes over for United's next two matches.
Most likely, Man United will change their playing style, operating according to the 3-4-3 formation, which was Ruben Amorim's favorite formation when he was leading Sporting Lisbon.
This raises the question of whether the Red Devils squad can adapt to the change? But according to Onana - who watched Sporting Lisbon beat Man City 4-1 - said the Man United players are ready for the new challenge.
“The system will be different, but my teammates and I understand the situation. The players in the team are able to adapt to changes. That is not a problem for us,” Onana said at a press conference ahead of Man United vs PAOK in the Europa League.
Amorim's arrival also raises questions about Van Nistelrooy's long-term future. The former Dutch striker was assistant to Erik ten Hag before taking over as interim manager following his compatriot's sacking.
Van Nistelrooy helped Man United beat Leicester City 5-2 in the Carabao Cup and drew 1-1 with Chelsea in the Premier League. It is not yet confirmed whether Van Nistelrooy will continue with Man United after Amorim's arrival.
"I have not spoken to Amorim. So far, we have had no contact. It is difficult to comment on my future at this time. I am waiting for the discussions to take place between the parties involved.
“My responsibility is to do my job well this week. I welcome Amorim to the team, I am happy to help him and that is all that is going on,” Nistelrooy said.
Man United determined to win against PAOK
Man United have drawn their first three Europa League group games and must beat PAOK to keep their hopes of progressing alive.
The Old Trafford team welcomed the return of young centre-back Leny Yoro. The former Lille player has yet to play an official match for Man United after being injured in the pre-season.
According to ESPN, in addition to Yoro, other players such as Tyrell Malacia, Christian Eriksen, Mason Mount and Anthony have also trained at Carrington. But Luke Shaw, Harry Maguire and Kobbie Mainoo continue to be absent due to injury.
"Yoro has been looked after very well since his injury in pre-season. We know it will be a long journey. This is an important moment for him, the first time he has trained with the team. We will try to get him back to form as soon as possible," Nistelrooy shared.
This will be the first time Man United and PAOK have met in European competition. The Red Devils have a superior record against Greek opposition, having lost just one of their previous 12 meetings in all competitions, winning nine, scoring 27 goals and conceding six.
The match between Man United and PAOK will take place at 3:00 a.m. on November 8.
