With Manchester United announcing the appointment of Ruben Amorim, the big question is what the team will look like under the 39-year-old.
Like at Sporting, where he won two league titles, his task at Old Trafford will be to revive a fallen giant, with the 39-year-old having to motivate a group of players who have long lost confidence and form.
So what can the "Red Devils" and their fans expect from Amorim?
Amorim favours a 3-4-3 formation and sees no reason to change the philosophy that has worked in his home country of Portugal. United are used to a traditional 4-2-3-1 formation and this will change with Amorim's arrival.
Amorim's approach requires versatile centre-backs and full-backs who can push forward and move freely. Amorim's team often uses the entire width of the pitch to attack and stretch the opposition.
Of course, Amorim will remain committed to an attacking style of play that is both free-flowing and entertaining. But do United have the personnel to play Amorim’s way? Or will he need players who can translate his philosophy from the training pitch to the games?
In Diogo Dalot and Noussair Mazraoui, Man United have quality full-backs available, although Amorim will likely look to replace both with new players.
Meanwhile, it is still unclear how Matthijs De Ligt, Lisandro Martinez, Leny Yoro, Jonny Evans and Harry Maguire will adapt to a three-man defence. If they do not adapt, they will certainly be eliminated.
Amorim's system has sometimes been seen as negative, with the full-backs dropping back to form a back five. However, Sporting scored over 100 goals last season, underlining his commitment to an attacking mentality.
Aside from his tactical acumen and unwavering belief in his system and squad, Amorim's other key quality is said to be his ability to foster a collective mindset.
Despite losing key players at Sporting, including Manuel Ugarte, Matheus Nunes, Joao Palhinha and Pedro Porro, Amorim has underlined his formidable managerial abilities. He has restarted the team and won consistently.
This is what Man United crave and why they are eyeing Amorim's appointment.
