Vietnamese gymnastics athletes are competing at the 2026 Asian Championships held in China. On June 18 local time, the tournament started.
On the first day of the tournament, athletes perform the exercises in the qualifying round of each individual event while also calculating team points and individual overall achievements for men.
The Asian Gymnastics Federation stipulates that the 2026 Asian Championship will count achievements as qualifying rounds to award tickets to ASIAD 20.
Teams that achieve achievements to be in the top 10 team achievements at the 2026 Asian Championship will be awarded a maximum of 5 slots to participate in ASIAD 20.
The Vietnam Men's Gymnastics Team had Nguyen Van Khanh Phong, Dang Ngoc Xuan Thien, Nguyen Phuoc Hai, Tran Dinh Vuong, Trinh Hai Khang competing in their events and bringing a total of 223.361 points.
The achievement helped the Vietnam Men's Gymnastics Team rank 9th. Thus, the Vietnam Men's Gymnastics Team completed the target of winning 5 slots to participate in ASIAD 20.
In the 2026 Asian Championship, the host team China won a gold medal in the team event with a result of 254.194 points.
Also at the 2026 Asian Championships, the Organizing Committee will also compete in events for young champions. The tournament will last until June 21. After the first day, the athletes will continue to enter the finals of their individual events.
