The 2026 Asian Gymnastics Championship is considered the qualifying round for ASIAD 20. The competition program is expected to be held in China from June 18 to June 21 (men's event) and from June 25 to June 28 (women's event).
According to regulations, if the participating teams have team results in the top 10 positions in the men's and women's events, there will be 5 men's and 5 women's official slots to participate in ASIAD 20. If they do not achieve the above ranking, each team will only get 2 men's and 2 women's slots to participate in ASIAD 20.
The Vietnamese gymnastics team is training in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. The coaching staff will send forces to participate in the 2026 Asian Championship in China.
Last year, the Vietnamese gymnastics team won 1 silver medal (athlete Nguyen Thi Quynh Nhu) and 1 bronze medal (athlete Dang Ngoc Xuan Thien).
This year, faces who participated in SEA Games 33 such as Nguyen Van Khanh Phong, Dang Ngoc Xuan Thien, Dinh Phuong Thanh, Trinh Hai Khang, Tran Doan Quynh Nam, Nguyen Thi Quynh Nhu... continue to be concentrated in the national team.
At ASIAD 19, the Vietnamese gymnastics team won 1 silver medal with the performance of Nguyen Van Khanh Phong in the men's singles rings event.
