According to Mr. Le Tri Truong - General Secretary of the Vietnam Volleyball Federation, this year, the Vietnam men's volleyball team will participate in the 2025 Asian Men's Club Cup instead of the Border Guard club. This is an opportunity for athletes to improve their expertise and accumulate more experience before the 33rd SEA Games.
According to the regulations of the Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC), the place to participate in the Volleyball Club Cup is awarded to the champion teams in national and territorial tournaments in the continent. Vietnam usually has 1 men's and 1 women's award for the champion team.
In 2024, Border Guard Club won the national championship but did not participate in the 2025 Asian Men's Club Cup. Therefore, the Vietnam volleyball team was chosen as a replacement, in accordance with regulations. The tournament will take place from May 11 to May 18 in Japan, for the first time called AVC Men's Champions League.
To prepare for the tournament, the Vietnam Volleyball Federation (VFV) will work directly with the men's national team coaching staff in March to have a specific plan. Coach Tran Dinh Tien is trusted with the responsibility of selecting collaborators, ensuring professional training and competition.
After the first phase of the 2025 National Volleyball Championship, the coaching staff will make a list of players to call up. The whole team will train at the Da Nang National Sports Training Center, ensuring expertise towards each continental tournament.
Mr. Le Tri Truong said that the Vietnam Volleyball Federation has developed a professional plan for the Vietnam men's volleyball team. It is expected that the team will participate in 3 important international tournaments before the 33rd SEA Games including the 2025 Asian Men's Club Cup (May), AVC Challenge Cup 2025 (June), SEA V.League 2025 (August).
