The women's indoor volleyball event of ASIAD 20 has 14 teams registered to participate. The draw results on July 23rd have divided the teams into 4 groups.
The Vietnamese women's volleyball team entered Group D with teams from South Korea, Hong Kong (China), Qatar. Group A includes Japan (host), Indonesia, Nepal.
Group B has teams from China (reigning champion), Kazakhstan, Philippines. Group C has teams from Thailand, Taiwan (China), Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia.
In men's indoor volleyball, the Vietnamese men's volleyball team was drawn into Group C with Qatar, India, Hong Kong (China).
Meanwhile, Group A has Japan (host), Pakistan, Kazakhstan, Uzbeksitan. Group B includes Iran, Indonesia, Thailand, Kyrgyzstan. Group D includes South Korea, China, Taiwan (China) and Philippines. Men's indoor volleyball has 16 participating teams.
Women's indoor volleyball at ASIAD 20 will be played from September 16 to September 22. 9. Men's indoor volleyball takes place from September 27 to October 3.
Coming to ASIAD 20, the Vietnamese women's indoor volleyball team is targeted to strive for 4th place.
In 2023 at ASIAD 19 held in China, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team reached the semi-finals and ranked 4th overall.
This year, the Vietnam Volleyball Federation sets a goal for coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet and his team to maintain this result.
